Snaps on the Haps – August 2015

Hello all,

The summer feels like it’s flying by! I hope you all are enjoying one of the best seasons in Maine. I’ve been up the coast a few times and enjoyed every minute. I’m hoping to catch some of the Portland fun in August.

Aug. 5: Art in the Square put on by the Hidden Ladder Collective  Congress Square, at the corner of High and Congress.

Aug. 6-16th: Acro-Cats Circus will be performing at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 75 Congress St.

Aug. 7, 3 pmReggae Fest 2015 at the Maine State Pier

Also, while you’re downtown enjoying the First Friday Art Walk, swing into Rosemont Market on Commercial St. for a free wine tasting and buy some local food and brews, 5 Commercial St.

Aug. 8, 8 pm:  Carte Blanche NYC based 6-piece jazz ensemble Acoustic Artisans, 594 Congress St.

Aug. 9, 12- 5 pm:  B.Good Block Party food by b.good, music, games and beer by Rising Tide and Peak Organic. All proceeds go to b.good Maine Foundation.

Aug. 12, 7- 8 pm: “Your Summer Stories” featured at MOOSE (Maine Organization Of Storytelling Enthusiasts) 5 Monument Square.

Or…. 6 pm Oxbow Terlingua Dinner 8/12 join them for a night of BBQ & beer. The night starts at Oxbow Blending & Bottling for the first course, before heading across the street to Terlingua where the chef has prepared a special pork-themed menu paired with special Oxbow brews. Tickets for the dinner are required and are all inclusive (tax & tip).

Aug. 14, 8:30 pm: What Cheer? The What Cheer? Brigade is a 19-piece brass band from Providence, RI, playing the loudest and most brutally intense dance music imaginable – all without the use of amplification.  Mixing the sounds of Bollywood, The Balkans, New Orleans, Samba and Hip-Hop, with metal-like intensity, they prove that great parties need no electricity. Aug. 21, 12-1 pmLunch and Learn at Portland Regional Chamber with Britt Bolnick.  The focus will be on easy ways to make cost-free upgrades to your biz. 443 Congress St. ​

Aug. 22, 9 am to 4 pm:  The Maine Craft Association is producing its first FINE CRAFT SHOW. Occurring the same weekend as WCSH Sidewalk Arts Festival, the Portland Fine Craft Show will feature Maine and New England craft artists of diverse and incredible talent. Between State and High Streets.

Aug. 27, 6- 10 pm:  Bow Ties and Bean Boots to support Teens to Trails

Food – The Marshmallow Cart and Rolling Fatties, Drinks – Rising Tide Brewing Company, Games, Silent AND Live Auction, Live Music – The Ghost of Paul Revere!

Aug. 30, 7:15 pm: Free screening at Congress Square Park showing Annie Hall Corner of High and Congress Streets.

Real Estate Update:

Inventory is back up after a serious shortage this spring and early summer. The market is still very healthy. Many buyers and sellers are enjoying vacations but we should see an influx in both buyers and sellers again mid to late August.


I hope you all soak up the rest of summer and I’d love to see you out and about.
